Origin fever brings on labour
THE excitement of the tight State of Origin decider was just too much for Bundaberg mum-to-be Amy Perry, who went into labour in the game's dying stages.
The Blues fan and her Maroons-loving partner, Simon Smith, were watching the league thriller when Ms Perry "started getting uncomfortable" just after half time.
By the end of the game, her contractions were "right on top of each other" and Mr Smith took her straight to Bundaberg Hospital, where bouncing baby girl Indie Rose was born soon after.
Mr Smith said he had no doubts about what had brought on his partner's labour.
"I think that she did it because her team was losing," he joked.
"I will always tell Indie, 'you were born a couple hours after Queensland won seven years in a row'."
Indie's proud dad was also sure she would grow up to be a Queensland supporter.
But Ms Perry had other plans in mind.
"She will do what I tell her to do," she said.
"No, she can be a supporter of whoever she wants."
