NORTEC'S goal of placing 1000 people in jobs in 100 days for the third consecutive year is tantalisingly within reach.

As of Monday, the 89th day of the campaign, the employment group had placed 957 people in to work across Northern New South Wales.

The figure is 67 job placements ahead of NORTEC's schedule for reaching the 1000 jobs target.

With joblessness above the national average in the Tweed, Ballina/Byron, Clarence and Coffs regions the campaign is a vital link between employers and potential employees.

"The aim of the campaign is to focus on local employment opportunities in the region," spokeswoman Michelle Dowd said.
