NINE new tourism experiences are set to open across the Mid North Coast in coming months on the back of the Regional Tourism Product Development Program.

The NSW State Government injected $250,000 across the Mid North with Stream One, 2011/12 Regional Tourism Product Development grants of $10,000 to $50,000 in January.

Each of the projects are now nearing completion in line with the State Government's aim to improve tourism experiences in regional NSW.

The Big Banana in Coffs Harbour completes its New Food Gateway project this Friday.

The Food Gateway project encompasses the inception of a Regional Food Store, offering visitors the ability to sample and buy the best produce and creations of the region.

It will offer an array of fresh produce, artisan goods and local delicacies.

An interpretive Banana Tasting Tour has also been introduced where visitors have an opportunity to walk through a working banana plantation.

"The projects across our region will deliver a diversity of new product and experiences", said Mid North Coast Regional Tourism Executive Officer Belinda Novicky.

"Through this program the State Government has delivered on its promise to boost funding to regional tourism and we are excited by the diverse outcomes which should attract more visitors to our region.

Other projects merging from the Steam One funding are:

  • Y-Knot Charters (Jamala Cruises), Port Stephens developing new on-water dining experiences
  • Billabong Koala and Wildlife Park, Port Macquarie's new Estuarine Crocodile Exhibit
  • Tilligerry Peninsula Marina Park upgrades
