NATIONALS candidate for Richmond Matthew Fraser has hit back at Richmond MP Justine Elliot over her stance against CSG mining.

Mrs Elliot relinquished her role as parliamentary secretary for trade this week, claiming it compromised her position against coal seam gas mining.

"Mrs Elliot has a disastrous track record," he said.

"She was dumped as Minister for Ageing and has been dumped again.

"She is now making a pseudo run against coal seam gas.

"The fact is, if she had to vote on the floor she would have to support the PM and energy minister who support CSG mining.

"She has to follow the party line.

"She can't cross the floor.

"She may pretend she wants to lock the gate, but in reality she is harnessed to Labor's CSG horse that has already bolted."

Mr Fraser said NSW Labor was responsible for the selling of 44 CSG licences across the state.

"I personally believe we need to do what we can to protect our waterways," he said.

"Landowners need to have more of a say, especially in regard to mining companies entering their properties."
