TICKETS for an advance screening of director and former Tweed resident PJ Hogan's movie 'Mental' have sold out.
The movie, which was largely filmed in the Tweed, will be shown next Wednesday, October 3, at Hoyts Cinema at Tweed City shopping centre and the screening doubles as a fundraiser for the Tweed council initiative, the Tweed Kenya Mentoring Program.
Once it became aware of the phenomenal interest the movie raised, the council moved the screening to Hoyts Cinema's largest venue to accommodate the more than 300 viewers.
Tweed mayor Barry Longland said "we've got a completely packed house with absolutely no tickets left to sell at the door.
"It has been an extremely successful fundraiser for the Tweed Kenya Mentoring Program which council coordinates to provide safe water for isolated Kenyan communities.
"Council is thrilled with the incredible community response which has generated $1500 for the program."
Mental will be released nationally on October 4 and reunites Mr Hogan with his original leading lady, Toni Collette, from Muriel's Wedding fame.
The cast includes Anthony LaPaglia, Rebecca Gibney, Liev Schrieber, Deborah Mailman, Kerry Fox, Caroline Goodall and Sam Clark and features local landmarks such as Mt Warning while Banora Point and Murwillumbah are used as backdrop to the story.
