Monster possum discovered in Iluka Bowling Club air-con
A CLARENCE Valley air-conditioning repair man got more than he bargained for when he visited the Iluka Bowls Club earlier this month.
The air-conditioner wasn't cooling well and upon inspection the repair man found what he thought was a huge rat's nest in the fan housing.
"I donned my gloves, planning on ejecting a few pinkies, but when I moved the fan blade I saw what appeared to be Splinter himself," our trusty tradesman said.
"The father of all rats.
"A monster red-headed rodent appeared before me and scurried past my feet.
"I had the camera out already as I was taking a happy snap of the nest.
"Splinter ran initially, before coming about and charging at me.
"He had a face only a mother could love, with busted ears and scars-a-plenty from many battles.
"He came at me looking for high ground, then stopped just short and arched his back, hissing and spitting like a feral cat.
"I moved in for a closer shot of his busted-up face, but he turned tail and ran.
"The Iluka cats must have nightmares about this possum."
