Metgasco does deal with estate developer

COAL seam gas company Metgasco has worked with the developer of a proposed Casino industrial estate with a view to the estate becoming the company's next commercial supply customer, Metgasco said.

A $25 million Pacific Intermodal and Logistics Industrial Park development has been proposed for a 50ha site near Casino which has direct access to the Sydney to Brisbane rail line.

As well as an industrial estate, the site would serve as a freight and logistics hub for the region.

Developer Bruce Wright said gas supply to the estate had been sought by the manufacturing businesses which had considered setting up there.

"Attracting manufacturers to Casino means that we have to offer a range of services that include power and water and we have had strong inquiry over the last six months for gas," Mr Wright said.

Metgasco said the estate could consume about 1 pJ (petaJoule) of gas a year.
