Men's shed gets coordination
MURWILLUMBAH Men's Shed has come a long way in the last year.
So much so, that a coordinator has been appointed.
Phil Davison has been president of the Murwillumbah Community Men's Shed (MCMS) for the past year.
He will take over as coordinator from June.
Secretary of the shed John Pitt said the coordinator will be responsible for guiding the official opening of the shed.
"He will also start up activities in the woodwork room, as well as getting other things going," Mr Pitt said.
"His appointment was made possible by a grant from the Australian Men's Shed Association.
"He will receive a small payment.
"As such, the committee felt it important that he step down as president for the time he is in this role to avoid a conflict of interest."
Tony Atkinson will be acting president in the interim.
"Phil was the guiding spirit behind the formation of the Murwillumbah Community Men's Shed and has worked tirelessly to bring the dream into reality," Mr Pitt said.
"He was the best choice for the role since he knows the ins and outs of the shed and our aspirations for the next 12 months."
The Shed is in Durroon Avenue, Bray Park and is open on Wednesday and Saturday mornings from 9am, with other days to follow soon.
A public meeting to start a Tweed Heads Shed will be held on Monday, June 4 at the South Tweed Sports Club, Horizon room, at 10am and again at 4pm.
