THE seventh annual Corey New Cup between Lismore Workers and Goonellabah will be contested on Saturday, with Richards Oval hosting the memorial soccer game for the first time.

The match is in memory of Corey New, a popular junior player with both clubs, who was involved in the tragic road accident that claimed the lives of four Goonellabah teenagers at Broken Head in 2006.

Workers will be defending the Cup title after a 4-1 win last year, but the result will be secondary to the two clubs coming together to honour the memory of a lost clubmate.

Fundraising will include a raffle for footballs donated by A-League sides Melbourne Heart and Western Sydney Wanderers, signed by all the players from each club.

There will also be barbecue and canteen facilities with all profits equally shared between Workers and Goonellabah's junior clubs.

The reserve game kicks off at 2.30, with the premiers starting at 4.30pm.

All spectators are welcome.
