Party drugs end in hospital
POLICE are warning people about the dangers of drug use after a number of people were admitted to hospital over the weekend after overdosing on drugs.
About 10am on Saturday, a 25-year-old woman was transferred from Murwillumbah to Tweed Hospital suffering an unknown drug overdose.
A 25-year-old man who was with the woman later collapsed - both the man and woman are still in intensive care.
Later that afternoon, a 28-year-old man also attended Tweed Hospital and collapsed.
He is also undergoing intensive care treatment.
During the day, a number of other persons attended Tweed Hospital complaining of similar symptoms.
Investigations have revealed that a number of people may have consumed illicit drugs at a party in the Murwillumbah area.
While the use of any illegal drug is dangerous and potentially fatal, police are urging anyone who has purchased or been offered a liquid substance believed to be gamma-hydroxybutric acid or "fantasy" not to consume it.
Any person who has consumed the liquid or other illicit drugs and who feels unwell, is advised to seek immediate medical attention.
