Man rescued from burning house
A BOWEN security guard ran into a house that was on fire to rescue the occupant, who was barely conscious on a bedroom floor, early this morning.
The Queensland Fire and Rescue Service (QFRS) responded to a house fire in Kennedy St in Bowen just before 4am, a spokesman said.
One section of the single storey home was well alight when fire crews arrived, he said.
Paramedics treated a 38-year-old man and transported him to Bowen Hospital with minor smoke inhalation.
A police spokesman said the security guard was doing his usual patrols when he smelled smoke.
He found a house with a red glow coming from inside and raced in and grabbed the occupant, the spokesman said.
Police are investigating the cause of the fire, with officers arriving from Townsville and Ayr later today.
Two rooms, the roof and trusses were severely damaged and the entire home was smoke damaged, a spokesman said.
