Man on scooter hit, dog missing

AN elderly man riding a mobility scooter has been hit by a car near the Tweed Heads Fire Station.

The man was crossing the Dry Dock Rd-Minjungbal Dr intersection with his fox terrier dog about 12.30pm when he was struck.

Station commander Fraser Hindry said the man was stabilised and taken to hospital by paramedics with minor injuries.

"He was not badly injured, I don't think.

"We were the first on scene."

Mr Hindry said the man's dog had not been seen since the accident.

The North Coast Area Health Service confirmed the man was 61 years old and in a stable condition at Tweed Hospital.
