GOLD Coast Police have charged a man following a stabbing outside the Coolangatta post office at the weekend.

A 22-year-old Coolangatta man has been charged with unlawful wounding, assault occasioning bodily harm and four other related charges.

Police will allege in Southport Magistrates Court today that two men were sitting outside the post office on Griffith St when they were approached by two other men on Sunday after midnight.

The men have been involved in an argument and a 30-year-old man has received a stab wound to his back.

A second man has then become involved in a scuffle, and had his wallet stolen.

Two men have then fled the scene.

Police are continuing with their investigations.

Anyone with information on the incident Sunday morning should contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
