THE third and final chapter of Opera Australia's stunning production of Puccini's Madama Butterfly will screen in high definition at The Regent Murwillumbah cinemas.
On March 16, 17 and 20 opera lovers will get to experience the third screening in the series after La Traviata and Turandot.
Audiences will see Lieutenant Pinkerton arrive in the port at Nagasaki where his ship is being stationed for an extension of his tour duty.
The local fixer, Goro, has rented a house with a view for him, and also hired staff to attend to his needs.
All that is missing for Pinkerton is a wife for him to come home to.
Goro can provide this.
He knows a girl - and her name is Butterfly.
A truly stunning love story, Madama Butterfly blends exquisite costumes, vivid colours and stylish set designs with some of the most moving music ever written.
Audiences will fall in love with the quietly mythical spirituality of Moffatt Oxenbould's classic production.
Owner Mia Barbieri said the last two productions had been a hit and she hoped the third would follow.
"We chose this one because it's Australian and performed in Australia," she said.
Tickets for adults cost $15 and concession is $12.
