Local liquor accords campaign against Xmas drunkeness

FIVE local liquor accord groups have banded together to launch an anti-drunken violence television advertising campaign for the Christmas/New Year period.

Byron Bay, Grafton, Hastings, Lismore and Lower Clarence Liquor Accords have funded the campaign which will inform patrons of "the type of behaviour that won't be tolerated in licensed premises".

Elke van Haandel from Byron Bay's Liquor Accord said, "The people who operate licensed premises want to see patrons enjoy themselves, but not at the expense of others."

"It's important that all patrons understand the type of behaviour that is expected of them in licensed premises and also the type of behaviour that won't be tolerated," she said.

The TV campaign will begin in the next few days and conclude after New Years Day.
