BRISBANE Lions captain Jonathan Brown was hit by a car while cycling in Currumbin Valley.

The club confirmed this morning that Brown was riding in a group of 20 cyclists when the incident occurred.

"He was taken a nearby hospital where he had a thorough check up, including scans, and was cleared of any serious injury," the club said in the statement.

"He received 10 stitches to an elbow."

The club stated that Brown had contacted officials personally and notified them that he was okay.

"The Lions would like to thank its many members who contacted the Club expressing their concern for Brown's health and wellbeing," club officials said.

Queensland Police said a cyclist was injured after a collision with a car at Tallebudgera Connection Road at Tallebudgera around 6am this morning.

The crash occurred at a round-at the intersection of Tallebudgera Connection Road and Guineas Creek Rd.
