Leighton wins Peak Downs contract

LEIGHTON Contractors has been awarded a three-year contract worth $604 million to deliver mining services at Moranbah's Peak Downs Mine in Central Queensland.

The BHP Billiton Mitsubishi Alliance contract extends the services provided at Peak Downs Mine and includes project management, fleet maintenance and operational services for overburden mining at the project.

Mining division general manager Greg Fokes said the contract demonstrated how Leighton worked with clients to add value to their projects.

"It recognises the hard work the mining team has put into the project over the years at Peak Downs," Mr Fokes said.

"Our relationship with BMA at Peak Downs has now entered its eleventh year and we look forward to continuing to work with BMA and developing future opportunities in the region."
