THE Kookaburras have tuned up for the Champions Trophy, which starts in Melbourne on Saturday, by downing England 5-2 in the final of the Super 9s tournament in Perth.

Playing together for the first time since the London Olympics, the Aussies raced to a 3-0 half-time lead after goals to Jamie Dwyer, Eddie Ockenden and Matt Ghodes.

The second half was more of a contest with two early goals by England adding some interest, but a double to Jacob Whetton put the issue beyond doubt.

Australia will be favoured to win the Champions trophy which also features Belgium, England, India, Germany, the Netherlands, New Zealand and Pakistan.
