COOLANGATTA'S Komune Resort has opened a sister resort on another world-class surf break in Bali.
The resort has opened stage one of a brand new resort and beach club on the Keramas break, a 25-minute drive from Sanur on the southeast coast of the famous Indonesian surfing isle.
The resort's grand opening coincided with the 2012 Oakley World Pro Junior, held at Keramas beach earlier this month.
Komune resort sponsored and facilitated the World Pro Junior event, where Gold Coast surfer Jack Freestone took out both the event and the world pro junior championship.
The opening attracted high profile celebrities such as Koby Abberton, Paul Fisher and Liz Cantor.
The Coolangatta based resort is part-owned by champion Australian surfer Luke Egan, who was also in Bali for the opening.
"Keramas is a world class wave and the most hifi performance wave in Bali so the action is always electric at Komune Bali," Egan said on the resort's website.
Professional Gold Coast surfer and DJ Adam Bennetts performed from a handcrafted bamboo stage at the Keramas opening.
"It was in conjunction with the Oakley World Pro Junior contest so there was a good crowd of 400 people grooving between the space age bar area and pool deck," Bennetts said.
"It's one of those places you really have to be there for to experience how good it is."
The resort takes eco-friendly initiatives to enhance and protect the local environment.
It features solar powered bungalows, LED lighting, water harvest and purification, cross flow ventilation, sewer management, river channel and beach management, cleaning and monitoring.Stage two is still under construction, with 11 two-bedroom bungalows and six three-bedroom beach villas due to be completed in late 2013.
