REPTILES invaded the Tweed on Friday and the children were captivated.

Reptile Relocation and Awareness owner and registered reptile handler Tony Harrison brought a selection of reptiles on tour to help educate children about his reptilian friends.

On Friday he was at Murwillumbah Library.

"The show's to curb people's perception of reptiles so they don't hurt them when they approach them in their backyards," Mr Harrison said.

"The reptiles come from all around Australia.

"Kids love the blue tongue lizard.  It's a very famous lizard."

Although Mr Harrison takes his show around Australia this was not the first trip to the Tweed with the reptile expert's last visit to the region for a show about the top ten most venomous snakes.

This time around it was a different with children being able to get up close and personal with Australia's native reptiles.

"100% every reptile has its own personality," he said.
