MICHAEL Hussey's retirement will leave a huge void to fill in the Australian middle order - the big question is, who will fill it?

The Test series in India will be followed by 10 back-to-back Ashes Tests and it won't be a job for the faint hearted in a line-up already missing the retired Ricky Ponting

With the rejuvenated Phil Hughes called in to take Ponting's place in the line-up, Queensland Bulls batsman Usman Khawaja should be first in line to get a crack at replacing Hussey.

Khawaja has played six Tests and was called into the Australian squad for the Boxing Day Test on standby for Michael Clarke while the skipper battled a hamstring complaint.

Hussey's younger brother David could also find himself in the frame, while Australia's Twenty20 captain George Bailey could be thrust into the limelight to try and fill the big shoes left by Mr Cricket.
