Kennedy Dr shop for sale
MOST people walking past a boarded-up corner store on Kennedy Dr would not give it a second look, but the property does offer a unique opportunity, according to a real estate agent.
The front of the shop needs to be replaced or renovated, but the coldrooms are still there and a new owner would have options to reinvigorate the business or redevelop the site.
Owner Property Group principal Merrick Keane, who is marketing the Tweed Heads West property, said there had been a lot of interest in the property over the years.
The shop has been on the market for about two years.
The Kennedy Dr shop has been closed for six years but the owner still occupies the riverfront property.
"At best it is a renovation or a complete redevelopment," Mr Keane said.
"It's a very interesting property.
"It can be subdivided as it is on two blocks.
"It's a commercial site you would have to do another DA (development application) but you could claim existing use to open the business.
"If the front was knocked down then you would never be able to build on that frontage again."
Mr Keane said the property also had frontage to Terranora Inlet.
The owner was unavailable for comment about the property.
"If the front was knocked down then you would never be able to build on that frontage again."
