Jersey Shore rumours flourish

A TOURISM organisation has denied talking to producers of US television show Jersey Shore about filming the next season on the Gold Coast.

Rumours spread that Queensland Tourism wanted to talk to producers after stars of the show Michael Sorrentino, aka The Situation, and Ronnie Ortiz-Magro both told US reporters they wanted to shoot one of the final seasons of the show in Australia.

A Queensland Tourism spokeswoman said the organisation always receives proposals to publicise the sunshine state but Jersey Shores was not one of them.

"Tourism Queensland receives hundreds of promotional and publicity proposals each year and is always open to looking at new opportunities to promote Queensland," the spokeswoman said.

"Despite what some media reports have said, Tourism Queensland hasn't been contacted by anyone from the Jersey Shore, nor have we sought to contact the producers.

"If the producers of Jersey Shore were to approach us about filming in Queensland, we would be happy to assess the opportunity on the same merits that we do every proposal we receive - whether or not the program fits with our brand image, cost and the overall potential benefit to our state's tourism industry."
