Jade’s on way back from pirate patrol on HMAS Anzac
AFTER a tour of duty on HMAS Anzac protecting merchant vessels from Somalian pirates in the Persian Gulf, Jade Lancaster will be welcomed home by her family at Sydney Harbour on Australia Day.
Jade will be greeted by her brother Jack and sister Brooke, as well as her mother Penny, all from Nymboida.
Jack has even made a welcome banner for his sister.
Her grandmother Lorraine Hannah said she would have liked to be there but said she was too old to make the journey.
"We are all very proud of what she has done," Mrs Hannah said.
Ms Lancaster's tour lasted six months, and she has been sorely missed.
"Six months seems more like six years," Mrs Hannah said.
Mrs Hannah said her grand-daughter rang from Perth when HMAS Anzac reached Australia before making the trip around the Great Australian Bight.
"All I could say is come home," Mrs Hannah said.
"We're a very close family and we don't like being too far apart."
