It’s Valentine's puppy love with owners pampering pets
VALENTINE'S Day is a day to show your loved ones how much you care about them and pet owners in Central Queensland are doing just that.
Pet owners across Australia will reportedly spend more than $46 million on their loved animals this Valentine's Day, which is tomorrow.
Pawkids owner Vicki McArthur said it was not unusual for people to want to spoil their animals.
"Valentine's Day is all about love and is not something just for couples anymore," she said.
"These days pets are part of the family and there's nothing wrong with treating your pets."
Vicki said she had noticed an increase in business in the lead-up to Valentine's Day.
"We've had a lot of bookings for our grooming services this week," she said.
"People want their pets looking and smelling beautiful for this Thursday.
"A bath, haircut, hair colour, new collar and new toys are very popular Valentine's presents for your pet."
Vicki said it was also popular for dog owners to drop off their dog at doggy daycare to treat them to a special outing.
"Sometimes it's just nice to let your dog have some playtime, "she said.
"We like to be social with our friends and our dogs like being social too."
