Neil teaches top savings tips
CURRUMBIN teacher Neil MacKay is stoked over his award from the Commonwealth Bank Foundation.
"It's great to get recognition for your efforts," the Palm Beach Currumbin Sate High School teacher said.
The Commonwealth Bank Foundation Teaching Award recognises and rewards inspirational teachers from schools across Australia who are making an outstanding contribution to developing money management skills of Australian children.
Mr Mackay has taught at the school for 22 years.
He was awarded due to his ongoing commitment to financial literacy education.
He ran a Year 10 class that covered fundamental concepts using interactive games, competitions, online resources and the use of guest speakers.
Mr MacKay was awarded $10,000 to support his program.
"It's marvellous to get acknowledgement of a program you have been running for years,'" Mr Mackay said.
Commonwealth bank CEO Ian Narev said teachers like Mr Mackay were "innovative."
"They engage our future generations in building essential financial skills," he said.
