TWEED residents are pondering how to spend $100 million today as they march, with their lucky numbers, into news agencies for their tickets in tonight's lotto draw.

Tweed City News owner Graeme Hooley said he expected sales in lotto tickets to triple at his store in the lead up to the Oz Lotto draw.

"This is one of the highest but we had a $104 million draw about three years ago," he said.

Sharon Aliburst often bought a ticket in the lotto.

"If I won $100 million I would probably buy a house, go on holiday and give some to my brother," she said.

Lisa Withey said she had not thought about how to spend the money.

"I don't buy tickets very often, just the big ones," she said.

NSW Lotteries spokeswomen Zoe Knobel said the country was buzzing with possibilities ahead of the draw.

"As people wake up on Melbourne Cup Day, they're not only thinking about horses bolting out of the barriers, but 45 yellow balls vying to be drawn from the Oz Lotto barrel tonight," Ms Knobel said.

"Oz Lotto's highly anticipated $100 million jackpot draw has finally arrived and the excitement is palpable across the country.

"Workplaces are buzzing with talk of 'what you'd do if you won $100 million?' and queues are getting even longer out the doors of newsagencies as people race in to buy their entry for a chance to fulfil their dreams," she said.

Ms Knobel said there was an unprecedented level of interest in the draw.

"Around eight million entries will be purchased into the draw nationally, above and beyond our previous forecast of 7.5 million tickets sold," she said.
