MONDAY'S race meeting in Murwillumbah was held under ominous skies but the heavens did not put a dampener on the racing.

It was cool conditions for punters after almost a week of 30-plus conditions that had left the track in good conditions.

Between 300 and 400 people were at the track for the seven-race meeting and the running of this year's Mooball Cup.

Two Murwillumbah trained horses showed their talents at the meeting with the favourite Congo, trained by Matt Dunn, taking out race three by two lengths to his nearest rival Lightning Vault.

In race 4 Royal Consort, trained by Caroline Halliday, won by five lengths over Boobles'n'boodles.
