A HOUSING density report from a leading Australian bank has revealed that the Tweed coast had a reduction in housing density in the past five year.

The Bankwest report, Housing Density Report February 2013, revealed that medium density housing approved in the last five years was at 36% of total approvals in Tweed Heads and the Tweed coast.

With medium density housing making up 43% of total housing stock, the approval figure showed that the availability of medium density housing was reducing.

The result for Tweed Heads and the Tweed Coast (-6%) was against the trend with NSW pushing up 5% and across Australia it was up 7% in medium density housing in the last five year.

The only other NSW with a negative result was the eastern suburbs of Sydney that was down -10%.
