Hoping to pocket $21m
THE number of things people might do with $21 million dollars is probably the same as what they would do in order to earn that money.
Murwillumbah News manager Lisa Guinea said if a local won Saturday's $21 million Lotto Superdraw they would likely think first of their family.
"The town is very family oriented," Ms Guinea said.
"They might talk about going on a big holiday, but there will always be a mention of family when it comes to the prospect of winning.
"They usually say they'd buy their daughter a house or just generally take care of their family."
Excitement around the three-monthly jackpot is building at the local newsagent.
Ms Guinea said the shop put on extra staff for Friday and Saturday, had decorated and all staff were revelling in their customers' hopeful smiles.
"Tickets have been selling fine, though we're expecting a bigger day tomorrow," she said.
"It's been a while since we've had a big winner, and it's great for the business when that happens.
"Especially if it's a regular, to see the look on their face."
She said a new division six game was producing more winners and other "exciting" changes were coming.
"We'll have a ticket checker for customers in about two months.
"They can scan their ticket and it will either come up that you're a winner - after which you confirm the amount with us - or it will say you're not."
