Her Excellency loves ‘castle’ question
IT IS probably not every day Governor-General Quentin Bryce is asked if she lives in a castle, and she loved the question from local primary school students.
Ms Bryce, along with a handful of Clarence Valley politicians, including Councillor Jeremy Challacombe, Mayor Richie Williamson, Member for Clarence Chris Gulaptis and Member for Page Janelle Saffin, visited the flood devastated village of Copmanhurst yesterday.
They had morning tea at Copmanhurst Public School.
The Governor-General spoke with residents who lost all possessions in the Clarence's worst flood in living memory.
"This is part of Australia I know very well, as I have been here many times throughout my life," she said.
She congratulated SES volunteers and said the Clarence was a leader in flood mitigation.
