THE Stotts Creek tip finally reopened yesterday and was busy with people throwing out flood debris and damaged household goods.

The road accessing the tip was flooded over until yesterday morning, when it opened at 5am to let flood affected residents dump their rubbish.

Stotts Creek Resource Recovery Centre site supervisor Wes Knight said it had been a hectic day.

"It's been really busy because there was no access until today," he said.

"There was definitely a lot of green waste and flood debris."

Mr Knight said because the council allowed free dumping until February 10, he wasn't too surprised how many people were dropping by.

"There's been small trailers and large trailers filled, it's been a mix," he said.

"The dumping has been well received with the free service."

Dulguigan's David Montgomery was at the tip today getting rid of flood damaged items while the free service was offered.

He was glad he could finally access the tip.

"I drove straight over," he said.

"The place was loaded (with people) as I was going out."

Despite flooding at Dulguigan, Mr Montgomery had escaped much of the floodwater.

"It was coming over a metre deep over the levee bank," he said.

"I managed to dodge a lot of the damage."

Mr Montgomery was glad to get rid of waste gathered from the flood cleanup and was hoping for dry weather in the coming months.
