A 28-YEAR-old hairdresser loved her job so much that she decided to buy out her former boss's salon in Tweed Heads West.

Rachel Hannah, 28, bought her first salon Halo Hair & Beauty Salon, earlier this year and was already considering expansion with more salons in the Tweed.

"I want to open a second salon and definitely local," Ms Hannah said.

Ms Hannah said the decision to open her first salon on the Tweed was easy.

The hairdresser spent the last 11 years in the Tweed starting as an apprentice after completing a hairdressing course at Kingscliff TAFE.

"I love what I do. I have always wanted to be a hairdresser," she said.

"I have a really steady clientele and I wanted to stay in the area."

Ms Hannah said she had no hesitation in buying the salon because she "loved to work hard".

"I take everything in my stride," she said.

The name Halo was created because Ms Hannah wanted a simple word for her salon that people would remember.
