MADURA Tea Estate was recognised today as one of the best tasting tea in Australia.

Rating agency Canstar Blue awarded the Murwillumbah tea producer the Blue Taste Award for teabags after surveying 2500 consumers.

"This is a great result in a competitive market, and a great validation of the Madura brand," Canstar Blue manager Rebecca Logan said.

"Aussies looking for the perfect cup of tea should look for Madura in the supermarket aisles, our go-to brand for tea bag taste."

Estate directors Gary Davey and Ron Ford accepted the award at the estate.

"It's (the award) a credit to all the staff who put into the product," Mr Davey said.

"We are the only Australian owned tea producer left, and to collect such an award against our overseas competitors, particularly based on taste - well, it doesn't get any better than that."

The Tweed tea company beat famous tea brands such as Dilmah, Nerada, Bushells and Lipton.

The estate makes one million cups of tea a day.
