Girl escapes after abduction
POLICE are searching for the man who forced a teenage girl into his car at Chinderah last night.
Initial reports state the 16-year-old girl was walking south on Tweed Coast Rd about 7.30pm under the Pacific Hwy overpass at Chinderah.
A car approached and the male driver spoke to her.
The girl ignored the man and kept walking causing the man to stop the car and force the girl into the front passenger seat.
The man drove onto the Pacific Hwy and continued north on Terranora Rd.
As the car was going around a bend at Banora Point, the girl managed to jump out of the car.
She ran and hid in bushes, before calling a family friend and running to a nearby house.
Tweed Byron police attended to her as soon as they were called.
The man has been described as 50-60 years old, dark complexion, with an Australian accent, short greying hair balding at the front, wearing a black and white small checked long sleeved shirt with the sleeves rolled up to the elbows.
The car has been described as a small silver four door hatch, black interior, leather seats, dark tinted windows, an automatic transmission and bearing small white number plates with black writing.
