Ghosts and ghouls to liven up Banora Halloween house party
THIS Friday, at least one home in Banora Point will turn into a ghastly, ghostly, ghoul's paradise when American-Aussie Nick Bushnell and his wife Nic hold their annual Halloween party.
The couple recently settled in the Tweed after an extensive tour of Australia in a motor home with their two kids Morgan and Miles.
They will be joined by about 50 of their closest friends to celebrate the pumpkin smashing spectre show that is Halloween.
Nick said his wife had recently bought a huge commercial-sized jumping castle and sticking wall, which together with a ton of other games would entertain their invited guests on the night.
Hollowed out pumpkins and deadly decorated buckets will become the target of scary sacks that the kids will throw to win prizes, while jars filled with 'eyeballs' will elicit best guesses.
The kids will stick their hands inside containers filled with unknown substances and walk away with unseen treasures while their mums and dads relax and enjoy some snacks.
The traditional 'trick or treat' down the street will not take place but with a huge number of costumes available the kids are sure to remain entertained.
Nick said he used to hold Halloween parties in Sydney when he lived there and the family became quite famous for the events.
"When we lived in the States every year after Halloween we bought about US$200 worth of costumes, which were very cheap following the celebrations," Mr Bushnell said.
"As a result we now have a whole heap of costumes so even if the kids don't bring their own, we have plenty to share."
