Future looks to be adding up for bank trainee Maddeline

MADDELINE Forster is banking on a bright future after getting accepted as a trainee at the Commonwealth Bank in Woolgoolga.

Maddeline, a Year 11 student, will work one day a week under the Indigenous School Based Traineeship (ISBT) program while completing her final two years of high school.

She started her training at the Woolgoolga branch in December and has been working full-time during the holidays.

"I am really looking forward to getting some valuable hands-on experience in the workplace," Maddeline said.

The Commonwealth Bank has been offering traineeships since 2003 to Year 11 and Year 12 students throughout its national branch network.

The Commonwealth Bank has 50 new trainees commencing work around the country in December, adding to the 55 trainees currently working within the bank.

From the 26 trainees that completed the ISBT program this year, more than half are continuing on with a permanent job at their branches.
