Council offers free tip use for flood-affected residents
THE council is offering residents cleaning up after the flood free tip use until Friday, February 10.
Storm-related waste can be taken to Stotts Creek Resource Centre once it reopens later this week.
The amnesty will end at 3.45pm Sunday.
The council expects access to the tip will be available from Friday, but possibly earlier depending on flooding.
Once reopen, it will operate from 7am-3.45pm Monday to Friday and 9am-3.45pm Saturday and Sunday.
In a statement released about 1pm today, the council advised it was working to clear the rest of the shire and offer further kerb collections to heavily impacted areas.
"Following the declaration of Tweed as a natural disaster zone, council is working around the clock to the assist residents across the Tweed's 1303 square kilometres," the statement said.
"This includes some targeted kerbside collections for the major flood affected areas only on Monday and Tuesday."
Guidelines for free storm tip visits are:
- Legitimate flood debris and green waste and household water damaged goods only will be accepted (loads will be inspected).
- Residents are requested to separate green waste from household items if possible.
- No liquid wastes, chemicals, asbestos or hazardous substances.
- Only Tweed customer's household/residential waste will be accepted.
