STAGE one of the Kennedy Dr upgrade is completed with four lanes now open on the western side of the Pacific Hwy.

The project was started in October to widen the road to four lanes between Limosa Rd and Grey St.

It was expected to take 20 weeks to complete, however, rain had caused delays.

The Tweed Shire Council plans another three stages in the upgrade but has yet to find funding for the project.

Although stage one of the Kennedy Dr upgrade has finished the frustration for drivers might continue with further works planned this month.

The council has started upgrading a water pipe along Kennedy Dr on the eastern side of the Pacific Hwy.

According to the council, the water pipe upgrade will take about two months.
