CHINDERAH residents have to wait for stage one of the foreshore upgrade with funding being funnelled into improving an intersection in the village.

The funds initially earmarked for the foreshore was moved into a roundabout and road realignment of the intersection at Chinderah Rd and Chinderah Bay Dr.

Councillor Kevin Skinner had pushed for the completion of the foreshore redevelop.

"There were $250,000 in funds earmarked for stage one of the foreshore upgrade reallocated to the intersection," Cr Skinner said.

"It's to put the road further away from the river bank and moving the light poles."

The move to reallocate the funding was made after the Federal Government provided $185,000 in black spot funding for the upgrade of the intersection.

"Council didn't have any more money," Cr Skinner said.

Cr Skinner said he would continue to seek funding for the foreshore upgrade.
