RURAL Fire Service Crews worked until last night to bring two fires at Tucki Tucki and Bungawalbin under control.

Reports of both fires came in around 4.30pm at the same time RFS brigades from Nimbin and The Channon brought under control a fire a Tuntable Creek that was reginited by strong winds.

Northern Rivers Rural Fire Service operations controller Daniel Ainsworth said brigades around the region were on high alert with today's hot weather providing ideal fire conditions.

"It's going to be very warm today, up to 38 degrees is predicted before a late change comes through," he said.

"We have brought in a specialist crew of four remote area fire fighters who are on standby to be flown to any fires that flare up by helicopter and be winched down to fight the fire."

The fire at Bungawalbin was extinguished by 8pm after it burned an almost 10 hectare area of remote bush.

Brigades are still on the scene of a large Tea Tree mulch fire at Tucki Tucki.

Mr Ainsworth said excavation equipment was being brought in this morning to help break apart the 30 metre long by 15 metre high pile of mulch.

"If we don't pull it apart it will reignite."

RFS brigades will be patrolling the 50 hectare area of bush at Tuntable Creek to put out any flare ups.
