Firearms stolen during break-in at Esk Island property

POLICE are appealing for information after a number of firearms were stolen during a break-in at Esk Island, near Iluka on the far north coast, last week.

Sometime between Sunday, January 6 and Thursday, January 17, a house on Esk Island in the middle of the new arm of the Clarence River was broken into.

During the break-in a firearms safe was accessed and three .308 rifles and an amount of ammunition was stolen.

The break-in was subsequently reported to police with a scientific examination of the premises conducted.

Police from Coffs-Clarence Local Area Command are investigating the circumstances surrounding the break-in and urge anyone with information about the matter to come forward.
