Fine effort by Valley girls in cricket championships
Four Clarence Valley cricketers played an integral role for North Coast in the PSSA girls cricket championship this week.
Grafton Public School's Kaitlin Pardoe, South Grafton Public School's Chantelle MacDonald and Chelsea Cotten, and Zara Tabor from Lawrence Public School performed admirably in the four-day competition, helping North Coast a respectable ninth out of the 13 regions.
North Coast manager Jack Priestley said the team improved with every game, overcoming a slow start to win three of their final four games.
"There are some very talented girls here and they've all done superbly," Priestley said.
"Kaitlin was outstanding throughout the tournament and was regularly the team's best performer.
"Zara captained for the second year in a row and did a stellar job and Chantelle is going to be a great North Coast cricketer for years to come."
The girls enjoyed the company of three Lend Lease Breakers, including Grafton's Kara Sutherland who we on hand to offer advice to up-and-coming players.
One of our local cricketers was selected in the NSW team that was selected from the championships.
