GOOD wine and fine food go hand in hand and to celebrate the joy these two bring to the palate Kingscliff restaurant Babalou will host a wine appreciation night on August 9.
South Australia's Pikes Winery export manager Peter Bentley will share his expertise with diners and show which wines go best with Babalou's spectacular food.
On offer will be a three course meal including canapés on arrival, accompanied with some of Pikes Winery's finest wines.
The menu includes a glass of Pike Oaks Bank Beer or Pikes Valley Sauvignon Blanc Semillon with canapés followed by a choice of Szechuan Calamari or Mini Korma Curry complimented by Pikes Riesling.
Main courses on offer will be free-range chicken breast on the char with prawns, prosciutto and a spinach farce or the chef's own Beef Wellington eye fillet tornadoes on the char with duck liver pate.
The mains will be accompanied by Pikes and Joyce Chardonnay and will be followed with a cheese platter which will come with a glass of Pikes Eastside Shiraz.
Restaurant manager Paco Dector said the evening offered great value for money and gave people the chance to try some of Pikes Winery's finest products.
Those attending can also try Pikes' beer which, although relatively unknown, is a great tasting drop.
The evening will commence at 6.30pm for a 7pm start and tickets must be pre-purchased on or before Wednesday August 8.
Tickets at $55 are available from Babalou (02 6674 8764) and Taphouse Cellars (02 6674 3366) in Kingscliff.
