Farms and eco village fun awaits
THIS week members of the community have the opportunity to get their fingers dirty when participating in Green Week activities at Currumbin.
Gold Coast Green Week runs until June 10 and will promote a "cleaner, greener and brighter" future by bringing together the community and the environment.
There are five activities planned for the Currumbin area which include earth care education session, tours and family fun days.
The activities will give local organisations and business the opportunity to share sustainable practices and values as they help the community discover the green behind the gold.
Administrator for Currumbin Creek Cultural Tours Alicia Davidson said it was a great way for people to get involved.
"It will be a great way for the community to visualise what things were like in the past while teaching them how to preserve things for the future," she said.
The first activity begins this Sunday from 9.30am with a family day at the Currumbin Community Farm Campus where families can explore the farm, feed the animals and enjoy food, music and market stalls.
Monday will give the community an opportunity to tour the world's finest example of sustainable residential living as they are invited to explore The Eco Village at Currumbin Valley.
Tours continue throughout the week with an earth care education tour on Tuesday and a kayak cultural tour on Friday.
To conclude activities in the area the Currumbin Bird Sanctuary will hold a koala family day on Saturday, June 9.
