THE Bermuda Triangle swallowed entire aircraft carriers however the mysterious area in the Caribbean never achieved the sort of disappearing act that has apparently taken place at Banora Point East.

"Banora East has ceased to exist," according to Lorraine Simmons who lives in the suburb.

"Thanks to the Banora Point upgrade, it is now impossible to find East Banora Point.

"Where have we gone," Ms Simmons asked.

"It has always been difficult to direct visitors to East Banora but now that we are not even on the map, impossible."

Ms Simmons referred to the lack of signage resulting from the Sexton Hill upgrade which saw workers dismantle signs directing traffic to Banora Point East.

The signage was never replaced prompting Ms Simmons to state "where does the Laura St bridge lead to and how do we get to Wilson Park?"

A Roads and Maritime Services spokesperson said access to and from the upgraded section of the highway and surrounding suburbs was now via Darlington Drive.

Temporary electronic message signs would be installed by the end of the week to help motorists reach East Banora via Darlington Drive.

Directional signs on this section of the upgrade had been installed according to the NSW guidelines standards.

The Laura Street sign on the old Pacific Highway was expected to be replaced by the end of the week, weather permitting, and access to Wilson Park from the upgrade was via the Darlington Drive exit and the old Pacific Highway.

"The upgrade is open to traffic, however there is still some minor completion work being carried out including landscaping, line marking and finishing work.

"There may be short delays to traffic until the end of the month while the work is completed," the spokesperson concluded.
