Double-amputee John Coutis to speak at Ivory Tavern
JOHN Coutis is a double amputee who travels the world and talks to people about how to overcome adversity.
Mr Coutis tells a tale of defying enormous odds and achieving remarkable things in a world that prefers to focus on what people with challenges can't do rather than what they can accomplish.
On Friday, December 7, he will visit the Tweed and at a fundraising lunch at the Ivory Tavern, Mr Coutis will talk about respecting difference, inclusion, resilience, goal setting, motivation, self determination and courage.
Mr Coutis' work as a motivational speaker has brought him in contact with many well-known sports people and celebrities and he has been involved with the 2000 Australian Olympic team, the Australian cricket team and a number of NRL teams among others.
Although Mr Coutis has been involved as a motivational speaker with cricket and AFL, his real passion is for NRL football and he aims to become the first disabled coach in the NRL.
In the meantime, Mr Coutis continues to share his experiences as a person with physical challenges and his triumphs over the adversity he encounters daily.
Mr Coutis will present a motivational speech with the theme "If I can, you can" on December 7 at the Ivory Tavern from noon-3pm in support of the charity Limbkids Support Association.
