DESPITE reports from an Italian newspaper that Alessandro Del Piero is unhappy at Sydney FC, the brilliant attacking midfielder had a day he'll never forget for the Sky Blues against the Roar at Allianz Stadium yesterday.
Del Piero scored a goal, his 11th of the season, which took him past John Aloisi's club record for most goals in a single campaign, and set up another in his side's 2-1 win.
His brilliance put Sydney into the top six for just the second time this season, and the first time since round four.
Meanwhile, the Roar players looked dejected at the result, with the side now in eighth place, and seven rounds remaining.
Del Piero scored his first after seven minutes due to some brilliant footwork after a Roar defensive mishap.
A pinpoint cross in the 69th minute then saw the ball fall to Peter Triantis, who scored with a stunning long-range strike.
Besart Berisha scored the Roar's only goal just before halftime with a well-taken penalty.
