Cross border issues to be ironed out by commissioner

CROSS border issues between NSW and Queensland continue to cause angst, anger and confusion and to resolve some of the most difficult problems, NSW cross border commissioner Steve Toms is back on the job after the holidays.

Mr Toms said some of the obvious things on the radar where the daylight savings and taxi issues.

"I'm in the process of putting together a business plan including a list of target subjects for this year which hopefully be released in the foreseeable future," he said.

"The taxi issue has been attracting quite a bit of attention lately."

"The challenge here is to be able to click your fingers to change the world."

There was a process in place to work through these issues and the business plan would identify some of the target areas.

"Finalising the business plan is of a high priority at the moment," Mr Toms said.

Mr Toms said although he didn't have a Queensland counterpart with the same title, the Queensland government's Department of Premier and Cabinet was working with him to resolve some of the issues.

"We're working on a joint works program," Mr Toms said.

Queensland had a clear position on issues such as the taxi problems but there was a process in place to work through these subjects.
