PREPARE to rock out this weekend when one of Canada's most influential musicians hits the stage at the Coolangatta Hotel.

Jeff Martin, the front man of multi-platinum selling Canadian band The Tea Party, will perform one of his final solo shows in Australia on Saturday night.

Martin, who now resides in Ocean Shores, said he met the love of his life, Kate Nutt, at an intimate Cooly gig.

"It was before a show and I was having a beer and she walked right by me with another guy," he said.

"I noticed her because she stared me down."

It wasn't until a later gig in Brisbane where the pair actually met and was able to have a conversation.

Martin said the first time Kate saw him she was 16-years-old at a The Tea Party gig at Festival hall.

They now live in Ocean Shores and have a son together.

Through the years Martin has enjoyed performing intimate solo shows around the country because it enabled him to interact with the crowd.

"I have a reputation of probably the loudest acoustic player ever," he said.

"So the venue is quite nice and had great sounds that work with that."

His tour schedule has been intense but it all so he can start working on The Tea Party's latest album

"It's a big monster," he said.

"We plan to write the record early next year which is exciting and daunting."

The Canadian singer and guitarist said there was no way he would relocate back to Canada even though the album would be produced there.

The Tea Party drummer Jeff Burrows will touch down early next year to start putting down the drum beats for the album.

To check out the last solo performance by Martin for a good few years make sure to check out the gig on Saturday night from 9pm (8pm Qld) at the Cooly Hotel.
